What is colour?
Colour is light.
Colors are frequency wavelengths that we connect with, based on grid (matrix) attraction.
Primary colors following a spectrum are called ROYGBIV or the rainbow spectrum.
Sir Isaac Newton discovered the phenomenon of the spectrum of colours in 1666
and introduced the 'colour wheel'. He believed sound and light had physical similarities
and so named seven primary colours to match the seven notes of a western major scale;
also to link those colours with the seven known planets and seven days of the week.

White light (which is sun light) radiates all the colours of the spectrum and, just like x-rays
and radio signals do, it travels in waves. The shortest light wave-lengths translate into the coolest colours: blue,
green and violet, those which recede into the distance. The longest light wave-lengths produce the strongest and
warmest colours. Those are: red, orange and yellow.

Human perception of colours occurs when rays of varying light wave-lengths are touching an object and then
get recorded upon the retina of the eye. The colours vary according to the length of the light rays that are being reflected.

Prominent Colours (long wave length colours) are:..... red yellow orange
Receding Colours (short wave length colours) are:.... violet blue green
Value > Chroma > Hue

They are the three consonants which decide the quality of a colour

Any colour is a hue and Chroma denotes the purity and depth of a colour. Value of a colour, most important of the three, changes with colour's movement across the spectrum. When a colour moves closer to black - it becomes a shade and when a colour moves closer to white - it then becomes a tint.

WARM:
Colours, tints and shades
which carry an orange/red or yellow undertone

red > yellow > orange

COOL:
Colours, tints and shades
which carry a blue, green
or violet undertone

violet > orange > green

The colour red can be
either cool or warm.

red + yellow = warm red
(red/orange or rust)

and

red + blue = cool red
(burgundy)

Primary and Secondary Colours

...............................................

WARM:
yellow based

COOL
blue based

Colours
in all shades and tints
can fall only into two categories:
warm and cool.

All objects have their own, chemical structure. Though sunlight sends out all colours of the spectrum to all objects, each will respond according to it's own unique and individual combination of molecules.

secondry cols
Red, yellow and blue are the primary colours.

Mixing primary colours in equal proportions will produce three other colours: violet, orange and green.

By further combining primary colour with secondry colour the result is tertiary colour.

Example of a tertiary colour:
primary blue + secondary green = aquamarine

Depending upon the proportions of each colour used in the combination of a mix any colour or shade can be produced today.

The three primary colors correspond with the three basic elements - hydrogen, carbon and oxygen. The three-fold power of the Primary Colors make a direct energy contribution towards our physical, mental and spiritual development.

We are naturally stimulated by the energy of the daily sun. While the sun adds to our alertness and the general quality of daily life it is the blue light of the evening that allows most of us to relax and follow the natural instinct to sleep.

To witness a perfect example of the light wave-lengths growing shorter, is to see the nightfall. Notice the beauty of the sky, the trees, grass and all things visible going darker as the blue evening shadows grow violet and finally become the black of the night....

Tomorrows bring the longest light wave-lengths, conveying brightest, most vivid colours at high noon!

It is believed that the colour rays and their vibrations generate spiritual power. Each one having a general as well as a specific function and purpose.

Colours effect our health, senses and feed our emotions. Colours have symbolism in magic and love and can influence the state of our minds, cause mood swings and dictate our personality.

The Chakras

They are psycho-spiritual subtle bodies, force centres, that culminate in the physical form and are known as Chakras. In Theosophical teaching the word "Chakra" is taken from a Sanskrit word, translated as “wheel" or "turning".
The Chakras are aligned in a straight, single column starting at the top of the head and ending at the base of the spine. Each Chakra is represented by certain colour and is associated with various aspects of our physiological functions.

they are
the major energy centres
of the body

Using the seven colours of the spectrum, Colour Therapy aims to stimulate our body’s own healing process through balancing and enhancing our major body’s energy centres that spin clockwise and anti clockwise ingesting and expelling fresh and used up energy from our system.
